These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Parchment & Clay website, online courses, course materials, and related services.
By visiting our website, purchasing a course, creating an account, or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not purchase or use our services.

- Educational Purpose
Parchment & Clay provides educational and informational content.
Our courses may address historical, religious, literary, cultural, and biblical subjects.
Our courses are not legal, medical, psychological, financial, investment, tax, or other regulated professional advice.
Historical, religious, literary, and scholarly subjects may involve competing interpretations, incomplete evidence, and legitimate scholarly disagreement. The presentation of an interpretation or position in a course does not mean that it is universally accepted.
- No Guarantee of Results
Our courses are educational products. We do not guarantee any particular academic, professional, personal, spiritual, financial, or other result from purchasing or completing a course.
Your results depend on factors outside our control, including your background, prior knowledge, effort, engagement, circumstances, and application of the material.
Purchasing a course does not create a promise that you will achieve a particular outcome, acquire a particular credential, improve a particular skill, or obtain any particular personal, professional, academic, or other benefit.
- Accounts
Some courses require you to create an account through Kajabi.
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information reasonably current.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity occurring through your account.
You may not share your individual login credentials with unauthorized persons.
- Individual and Institutional Use
Unless a course or purchase expressly provides otherwise, an individual course purchase provides access to the purchaser.
Parchment & Clay may also offer institutional purchases or licenses.
For example, a church, seminary, college, university, nonprofit organization, or other institution may purchase a course for use in an adult-education program.
Institutional access may be provided to multiple authorized participants when the applicable purchase or written license expressly permits that use.
An individual license may not be shared with an unlimited number of people or used as an institutional license.
If you purchase a course on behalf of an institution, you represent that you have authority to enter into the purchase and accept these Terms on behalf of that institution.
- Course Access
Unless otherwise stated for a particular course, courses are offered with lifetime access.
"Lifetime access" means access for as long as Parchment & Clay continues to make the applicable course available.
Lifetime access does not guarantee that:
- A course will remain available indefinitely;
- Parchment & Clay will operate indefinitely;
- A course will always be hosted on Kajabi;
- Course materials will never be modified, updated, replaced, or discontinued; or
- Course access may be transferred or resold.
If Parchment & Clay permanently discontinues a course, we may provide reasonable notice where commercially practicable.
- Payments
Course prices are displayed at the time of purchase.
Payments are processed through payment providers made available through Kajabi, including Kajabi Payments.
Kajabi Payments uses Stripe's payment-processing infrastructure.
You authorize the applicable payment processor to charge the payment method you provide for the amount displayed at checkout.
Parchment & Clay may change prices for future purchases. A price change will not retroactively change the price of a completed purchase.
Parchment & Clay currently offers courses for one-time payment. If subscription or recurring-payment products are introduced in the future, the applicable subscription terms and pricing will be disclosed before purchase.
- Refund Policy
Parchment & Clay offers a full refund at any time, for any reason, for a customer's first refund request, subject to the limitations described below.
If you are dissatisfied with your first Parchment & Clay course purchase for any reason, contact:
You do not need to establish a defect or provide a particular reason to request your first refund.
One Refund Per Customer
The Parchment & Clay refund policy is intended to give each customer a single opportunity to purchase a course, evaluate it, and request a refund if it is not right for them.
Once Parchment & Clay has issued a refund to a customer for any Parchment & Clay course for a reason other than a product defect, that customer is not eligible for a discretionary refund for any subsequent Parchment & Clay course purchase.
This limitation applies across courses and purchases, whether the subsequent purchase is for a different course or the same course purchased again.
For example, if you purchase Course A and receive a refund because you are dissatisfied with it, you may purchase Course B in the future, but that subsequent purchase will not be eligible for another discretionary refund based solely on dissatisfaction.
The risk of making a subsequent purchase after receiving a discretionary refund therefore rests with the customer.
Product Defects and Legal Rights
The one-refund-per-customer limitation does not prevent Parchment & Clay from providing a refund or other remedy when:
- A course has a genuine product defect that prevents the customer from receiving or substantially using the purchased product as represented;
- A refund or other remedy is required by applicable law; or
- Parchment & Clay expressly agrees to provide a refund or other remedy.
Nothing in this refund policy is intended to waive or limit any consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
Refund Requests
Refund requests should be sent to:
Please include the name and email address associated with your purchase and, if available, the course purchased.
Parchment & Clay may review its purchase and refund records to determine whether the customer has previously received a discretionary refund.
Effect of a Refund
When a refund is issued, access to the refunded course will be revoked.
Refunds will generally be returned through the original payment method where reasonably possible.
- Digital Course Materials
Courses may include videos, audio recordings, written lessons, PDFs, documents, images, transcripts, presentations, downloadable files, and other digital materials.
Purchasing access to a course does not transfer ownership of Parchment & Clay's intellectual property.
- Intellectual Property
Parchment & Clay owns or licenses the intellectual property contained in its original course materials, website content, branding, presentations, videos, recordings, written lessons, PDFs, graphics, and other original materials.
Except for the limited license expressly granted by these Terms, no intellectual-property rights are transferred to you.
- License to Use Course Materials
Subject to these Terms and the applicable purchase or institutional license, Parchment & Clay grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the course materials for your permitted educational purposes.
You may download files that Parchment & Clay expressly makes available for download.
You may not:
- Reproduce or republish course materials for unauthorized distribution;
- Sell, resell, sublicense, or redistribute course materials;
- Upload course materials to another website, platform, file-sharing service, or repository;
- Share paid course materials with unauthorized persons;
- Copy substantial portions of course materials into another course or product;
- Use course materials to create a competing commercial course;
- Remove copyright or proprietary notices;
- Commercially exploit course materials without written permission; or
- Circumvent technological restrictions designed to protect course content.
- Account Sharing and Unauthorized Distribution
Individual course access is intended for the individual purchaser.
You may not share your login credentials or provide unauthorized persons with access to your account.
Institutional access is permitted only to the extent authorized by the applicable purchase or license.
If Parchment & Clay reasonably determines that an account or course materials are being shared or distributed in violation of these Terms, we may suspend or terminate the unauthorized access.
- Third-Party and Public-Domain Materials
Our courses may discuss, quote, reproduce, translate, analyze, or otherwise engage with historical, literary, religious, scholarly, and other source materials.
Third-party and public-domain works remain subject to the rights and licenses applicable to those works.
The inclusion of such material in a course does not transfer ownership of Parchment & Clay's original course materials.
- Course Comments and User Content
Courses may allow students to post comments, questions, or other content.
You retain ownership of original content that you submit.
By submitting content to a course, you grant Parchment & Clay a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as reasonably necessary to operate and administer the applicable course and related services.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit the content.
You may not submit content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, knowingly false, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate for the course environment.
Parchment & Clay may remove content or restrict access to comments when reasonably necessary to maintain the course environment, protect users, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.
- Testimonials
If you voluntarily provide a testimonial or other feedback and authorize Parchment & Clay to use it publicly, you grant Parchment & Clay permission to reproduce and publish that testimonial for legitimate business and promotional purposes.
We may identify the testimonial using the name you provide.
We will not use your photograph in a testimonial unless we separately obtain appropriate permission.
- Third-Party Services
Parchment & Clay uses third-party services, including Kajabi and payment-processing services, to provide portions of the website, checkout, course delivery, account management, and related functionality.
Third-party services may have their own terms, policies, technical limitations, and availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parchment & Clay is not responsible for independent acts, omissions, policies, or outages of third-party providers.
- Website and Course Availability
We strive to keep our website and courses available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
Access may be interrupted because of maintenance, updates, technical failures, security incidents, internet problems, third-party service outages, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
- Prohibited Conduct
You may not use our website, courses, or services to:
- Violate applicable law;
- Infringe intellectual-property or other rights;
- Obtain unauthorized access to another person's account;
- Circumvent access controls or security measures;
- Interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- Distribute malicious code;
- Systematically copy protected course content for unauthorized purposes;
- Fraudulently obtain courses or refunds; or
- Engage in conduct that materially harms Parchment & Clay, its users, or its service providers.
- Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to a course or account if you materially violate these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, distribute course materials without authorization, compromise the security of our services, or otherwise misuse our services.
Where appropriate, we may provide an opportunity to correct the violation.
Termination does not eliminate provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual-property protections, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification obligations, and dispute provisions.
- Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the website, courses, and related materials are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
Parchment & Clay disclaims warranties to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The courses will meet your particular requirements;
- The information will always be complete, current, or error-free;
- The website will always be available;
- The courses will produce any particular result; or
- Every historical, religious, literary, or scholarly interpretation presented will be accepted by every scholar or tradition.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer protection right that cannot legally be excluded.
- Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parchment & Clay and its owner will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or relating to your use of the website, courses, or services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parchment & Clay's aggregate liability arising from or relating to a particular purchase will not exceed the amount you actually paid for the applicable course giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
- Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Parchment & Clay and its owner from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your material violation of these Terms, your unlawful use of the services, or your infringement of another person's rights.
This provision does not require you to indemnify Parchment & Clay for liability that cannot legally be shifted to you.
- Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent federal law or another jurisdiction's mandatory consumer-protection law applies.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive a consumer of mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
- Disputes
Before commencing formal legal proceedings concerning a dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Parchment & Clay's services, the parties should first attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally.
You may initiate this process by contacting:
Please describe the dispute and the relief requested.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking emergency injunctive or equitable relief where reasonably necessary to protect intellectual property, confidential information, security, or other rights.
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, disputes may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Contra Costa County, California, subject to applicable mandatory consumer protections and forum requirements.
These Terms do not require arbitration and do not contain a class-action waiver.
- Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business, services, technology, or legal requirements.
When we update the Terms, we will revise the Effective Date.
Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain affirmative consent.
- Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
- Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any applicable course-specific purchase or license terms and our Privacy Policy, constitute the agreement between you and Parchment & Clay concerning your use of our services, except where a separate written agreement expressly applies.

- A course has a genuine product defect that prevents the customer from receiving or substantially using the purchased product as represented;

Except for the limited license expressly granted by these Terms, no intellectual-property rights are transferred to you.

We may suspend or terminate access to a course or account if you materially violate these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, distribute course materials without authorization, compromise the security of our services, or otherwise misuse our services.
Where appropriate, we may provide an opportunity to correct the violation.
